Ford is at the forefront of integrating mobile devices into the vehicle through the technical enabler, SYNC. This platform is open, flexible, upgradable and able to be fully voice controlled. AppLink has been added to SYNC which will be launched later on this year in Europe. AppLink enables useful apps related to the driving experience (from music to news) to be integrated into the vehicle, allowing further personalisation of the vehicle. To allow even more people to utilise the opportunities AppLink offers, Ford has also opened up their platform, via their App Developer Program to enable developers from across the globe to create their own apps for use in vehicles. .

“The other reason Mobile World Congress’s influence in waning is very simple. I’ve spent the last few days wandering between events set outside the restrictive, suited-up environment of the Fira… We even had a little taste of Silicon Valley in the shape of the Bubble over MWC mini conference, just opposite the MWC official venue.”
